I have an intense romantic nostalgia for RAIN terminals.
I was 17 when I moved to Seattle, and I really didn’t know anyone. I got a small stipend for volunteering, but really had no money for adventure.
So things like reading The Stranger and hanging out on RAIN terminals, writing epic emails to my friends that were all at college, that was what I did to feel social.
My favorite terminals were at Cafe Allegro, Sit n’ Spin, and the best one of all (there was never a line) was at Espresso Express in Ravenna.
I lived down the street, I could just hang out there and drink awesome coffee, and send emails to all my friends and family.
